A trip to France

Last weekend I took a little trip to France. Well not exactly literally but I certainly sipped my way through the region of Champagne. A Mothers Day master class at Eastland shopping centre, hosted by the gorgeous (and hilarious) Kyla Kirkpatrick aka The Champagne Dame. For two hours myself, my sister in law and fellow ladies (maybe a couple of men) went on a journey into France with a little taste of champagne. Perfectly presented in a simple yet beautiful setup, featuring a pretty pink fridge stocked full of Taittinger Rosé champagne. It was the kind of fridge we all need in our house with a never ending supply of Taittinger.

So just who is Kyla Kirkpatrick and how did she become the Champagne Dame? The girl who grew up in outer Melbourne, went to Uni, then ended up pursuing her banking career overseas which lead to the luxuries in life like Champagne! Champagne become her passion, she read about it, learnt about it and tasted it. Back home in Melbourne she wrote a letter to one of the leading champagne houses in Champagne, whom then asked her to come to Champagne in person. So what is a woman to do? Well thats easy. She said goodbye to her man, packed her bags and off she went with a one way ticket to Paris! Legit, she did it! Her journey is truly inspirational. I don’t want to reveal too much as you really need to go to a Masterclass yourself to hear Kyla speak. She is utterly hilarious and may sneak in a cheeky phrase or two!

Long story short Kyla was recruited and sent back to Sydney where was trained to be an educator specialising in Champagne. Today she hosts Champagne master classes throughout Australia, runs tours over in Paris and Champagne, along with also having her own Champagne Club.

Back to the master class at Eastland we were treated to five different champagnes. All selected personally by Kyla herself. Now I don’t know about you, but for me if I am out somewhere I generally always go for a white wine (or rose) over champagne! However now that I have attended one of Kyla’s master classes if we are out I will definitely be checking the champagne list. Or if Im planning a ladies night in, champagne will definitely be on the menu.
